The Roosterfish was once a cash-only dive bar catering to solely gay men in Venice, CA for 37 years. In 2012 GQ called Abbot Kinney Blvd., the street it was centered on, the “Coolest Block in America” and sped up the already percolating process of gentrification. With Google, YouTube and SnapChat moving into the Venice area, rents sky-rocketed and the bar had to close its doors.

Now under new ownership, the Roosterfish is committed to reopening and creating a space where all are welcome. Can a generation that survived Stonewall and the AIDS epidemic feel at home in the new space, embrace the change, and honor the effort made by new management?
